Key Challenges
  • Largest modular hospital in Australia
  • Construction and tight delivery during COVID within a live hospital environment
  • Complex scope spanning structure, façade, services, and clinical fitout

Grove delivered a 52-bed modular mental health facility at Sunshine Hospital as part of the Victorian Government’s Pathway to 144 Beds initiative.

Spanning 6,500m² and built from 342 modular units, the project pushed the boundaries of modular healthcare in Australia. Modules were split into habitable and service components to meet transport constraints.

Grove managed all above-footing structural works, façades, services, and clinical fitouts. Despite being installed during the COVID pandemic on a live hospital site, the project was delivered with minimal disruption.

Purpose-built for psychiatric care, the facility offers intensive, medium, and general care for patients aged 16 to 64.

Tight timelines and complex logistics demanded precision. The result speaks for itself.
