As part of a pioneering initiative, Grove worked to maximize space efficiency by constructing the buildings upwards, offering a solution to a common challenge faced by many schools in Victoria. With two existing relocatable buildings occupying the space for the new classrooms, Grove carefully planned the removal of these buildings during the school holidays to ensure minimal disruption to the students. Civil works were completed promptly to facilitate the new structures, allowing the project to progress seamlessly and with minimal impact on the learning environment. This innovative approach resulted in Australia’s first side-by-side triple-storey classrooms, specifically designed to integrate and benefit learning. The project presented a unique solution to the challenge of limited space, offering schools a new model for efficient, relocatable classrooms that make the most of available land. Grove worked closely with key project stakeholders, including the local council, sporting clubs, the VSBA, the Metropolitan Fire Brigade for fire compliance, and Metro Trains Victoria, as the site was in close proximity to train lines. This collaborative effort ensured the successful delivery of the project while minimizing disruptions to the school and surrounding community. A well-planned job, with an excellent result for the school. Brett Nicol, RAS Program Director
